Rippled Rock & Spires

This high resolution photo of rippled rock and gorgeous spires was taken at Arches National Park in Utah. Arches lies on top of a deep underground salt bed called the Paradox Formation that is responsible for the arches, spires, balanced rocks, fins and eroded monoliths common throughout the park.

There are more than 2000 natural sandstone arches within the park. Canyonlands, just a few miles away, is another "must experience" national park if you're in the area!. Also, just a two hour drive to the East will take you to Mesa Verde National Park, the home of the 800 to 1000 year old Ancestral Cliff Dwellings (formerly know as Anasazi Cliff Dwellings).
