Cliff Palace - wide view

This photo was taken of the Cliff Palace in a wide field view so we can see how it sits in the landscape with trees and clouds above and trees below. Mesa Verde National Park is a wonderful place to spend a few days exploring and imagining what life was like for the ancestral cliff dwellers (Anasazi) from 800 to 1000 years ago. The Mesa Verdeans survived using a combination of hunting, gathering, and subsistence farming of crops such as corn, beans, and squash.

It is in Colorado very near the Utah border and just a couple of hours away from Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. What a great and very unique experience.

You'll see that in our two weeks in the area visiting these parks we enjoyed varied and often dramatic cloud formations
