"Photo of Your Star" - Informational Letter
The following is a response to an inquiry that further describes what we are offering and
how we are able to do it:
Dear Alex,
We are astronomy (through the telescope) photographers of galaxies, nebulae, comets, clusters, etc.. A few years ago we began a project of photographing the constellations in a way that would show the bright stars that make up the constellation's "shape" -- and yet still shoot deep enough that the star fields and deep space objects are visible.
Our photos are well accepted in the astronomy community and are widely used for framing, study, publishing and teaching. Just a few months ago we realized that they would also fulfill a need for people who have stars named and want a "real" photograph to help make a connection to that star as it actually exists in the heavens.
So, yes, these are real photographs. We use our photos of constellations like the ones you see in our gallery. Using star charts we find "your star" with the coordinates you give us and/or the star map you get with your star circled. We zoom in on your star and isolate it, then inset it back into the constellation photo so you can see where it is in relation to the night sky. It is then digitally printed and laminated with a special photo lamination that gives it archival longevity. Then the photo is matted, titled & signed and framed just like our gallery "proof prints".
Constellation photos are beautiful on their own, but these have a special personal meaning for you because "your star" is also shown in extreme magnification and resolution. There is really no other way for you to have this. We have many very pleased customers!
